I know not many if any people have any use for a .ini larger than 58.5KB but does anyone know if you can increase the maximum .ini file size when using mIRC to write to it?

I've written to ini files in excess of 5 MB's with no problems.

Odd, past 58.5KB I used to get 'file size too large'

But now that I've updated to 7.19 it seems to have fixed it.

There was an issue before with sizes over 64kB. That may have been adjusted in recent versions. I haven't looked over the changelog. However, if you plan to use the ini file outside of mIRC, you may run into issues depending on the program. I don't think mIRC was the only one with a limit.

Also, in general, INI files shouldn't be that large. If you have one that large, then there is probably a more efficient method of storing the information. Probably hash tables. It may be worth looking into.

I should have mentioned that you should try using the -n switch with the /writeini command. But what version did you use before?

/help /writeini -n
