Symlinked folder linking to itself caused a bunch of recursion. I don't know if mirc made it etc but I managed to remove it so all is fine, pretty weird though.

Says it all.

No, mIRC didn't make it, given that the path points to a temporary directory in a non-user-writable disk location. Do a virus scan, because you may have one.

No virus was present, Anti-virus got one, and since it was mirc I found and nothing else that gives a bit of weight to what caused it, I certainly didn't find any other applications in there.

"Anti-virus got one"

What exactly does that mean?

Many viruses target mIRC specifically, and no other programs, which could explain how it was only mIRC. As a sidenote, it could just be nothing, as you're generally not supposed to be poking around ProgramData anyway, and as I mentioned, mIRC never puts itself there.

Do you run other people's scripts in your mirc?

It means I already have one my computer doesn't have a virus, I make all my own scripts and know my way around windows fairly well.

Managed to fix this the junction had messed up ACLs so obviously not mIRC's fault.

Glad to hear that you found the cause of this.
