I have MSN up and running, do I have to uninstall it to actually check if it's the problem? Can I just close it? I'm not sure what might be the actual cause of the problem so I'm guessing MSN or the router might be.

Well I'm only using the windows 7 firewall. But besides that, is there really a problem with that?
