Right. I'm not particularly good at this.
Here's what happened: I recently moved to a new home and, bought comcast internet and started using a different router. Now, when I idle in a channel, I randomly disconnect then immediately auto-reconnected. It's not a huge issue, but it's certainly irritating to the other people in the channel, as it happens every ten minutes or so. This problem never happened before moving.
Here's what I got:
[13:52] Ping? Pong!
-
[14:00] * [10053] Software caused connection abort
-
[14:00] * Disconnected
I'm running mIRC v6.35 on Windows 7. If it matters, I've got a Linksys BEFW11S4 ver. 4 Wireless-B Broadband Router.
It's frustrating because I looked up my specific error in the 'Common IRC Errors' thread and it appears that there are very many things that can cause this to happen. I don't know enough about computers to fix this on my own, sadly.
Thanks for the help!
Edit: I'm pretty sure it's the router, and although I have the ability to screw around with it, I lack the knowledge of what to actually do about it.
Also, I can tell that firewalls aren't the issue; they're off.
