I'm looking for a simple way to alter the main mIRC window to display without the Windows menu being accessible. As a lot of web-based [spam] pop-ups do this to avoid having a user close the window, I know it is possible when creating an instance of the main window, but is that possible (via scripting) after mIRC starts?

In particular, I don't want to spawn a new mIRC window, unless there is a way to close the original without losing the session.

I would leave the /quit command functioning, but would like to disable the "click on icon or title bar" menu and the minimize/maximize/exit buttons as well.

thanks in advance for any suggestions

Short answer: no. Long(er) answer: you can modify windows with a dll.

More importantly: is there a specific reason you need to do this? I can't imagine why this would be necessary...

partly an intellectual exercise, partly because I was asked if there were a way to do so in order to simulate someone being handcuffed and unable to type or use a mouse... figured the easiest way to "lock out" the Window's menu and title bar was if the display could be suppressed.

But I'm not going to create a DLL for the purpose, too many other things to do.
