just tried a fresh reinstall, still nothing even with your codes. Also now that I think of it I don't think my sound came from my motherboard, although as I said before my motherboard speakers don't seem to work either at the moment.

edit: if I could find a copy of the ding file used that can recreate the sound used for highlighting, I would be more than happy to just use that in a separate script.

As the sound is a Windows sound, it should be in your Windows folder. Where exactly depends on which Windows you have installed. A search for ding.wav in your Windows folder (and subfolders) should find it easily, or you can go into your Windows sound scheme settings and find it that way as that should point you to the right folder automatically.

I posted before that I could not find it anywhere in any folders while searching as well as through the Windows sound scheme settings
