when this is the mirc directory, are there certain write and read operations within this folder? reason im asking is because when i installed some of my scripts to a fresh new mirc, mirc made the home directory as C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\mIRC and alot of things stopped working

I'm not sure what you're asking - what do you mean by "write and read operations within this folder"? If you use $mircdir and $scriptdir correctly it shouldn't matter what directory mIRC stores its settings in.

mIRC has defaulted to saving data within the user's application data folder since v6.3. This is necessary for mIRC to support multi-user versions of Windows.

20. [...] new installations of mIRC now save all
settings in the User's "Application Data\mIRC" folder by default.

However, if the installer or mIRC find mirc.ini in the same folder
as mirc.exe they will use the mirc.exe folder for all settings.
Users installing over an old version of mIRC should therefore see
no change in behaviour.

The installer is now also aware of administrator and standard user
accounts and installs mIRC accordingly.

$mircdir always points to the location mIRC is saving settings to, wherever that may be.

People seem to miss this point.
