Hi,

According to FileMon, upon a call to $readini(Settings\file.ini, x, x) mIRC 6.3 attempts to access $mircdirfile [sic] before Settings\file.ini is looked up. I have not aliased $readini. Can anyone else reproduce this on the various versions? Can anyone suggest a cause/reason?

Cheers

Tom

one explination I can think of is that you give a relative path and it needs an absolute path for the api call to windows... but that's just a pure guess

You got it in one, and mIRC uses the location returned by $mircdir
Other identifiers that can be used in mIRC for other locations are:
$scriptdir
$mp3dir
$mididir
$mircexe
$mircini
