I am having quite a problem with mIRC. I can connect to any server I want to fine. When I try to join a channel, mIRC freezes. If I am lucky, it will join, but will freeze when I try to put it on the desktop. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling mIRC, to no avail. It started one night when I had to reboot my computer. I rebooted, and went to open mIRC. It did what the problem says above. That night, I shut down my computer. I usually put my computer in hibernate overnight. I booted the next morning, same thing. Right before I wrote this I reinstalled. Please help!

Hello? Does anyone see this post? I have been waiting for a reply for a few days. If no one can help me, tel me a program that supports the scripts I have in my remotes file. Thanks.

Does mIRC freeze if you unload all the scripts and restart mIRC? If it doesn't then it's a problem with the script. You should either try re-installing the script itself (not just mIRC) or contact the author of the script about the problem.

You posted your original topic on July 4th. Today is July 6th, a difference of only 2 days. There have been several times when topics don't get an answer for a week or more, simply because those that looked at the topic don't know the answer, and those that do know the answer, or a possible answer, are busy with other things.

I removed the scripts from the remotes file, and it did nothing. Do you mean delete EVRYTHING? Like Aliases, and popups? When I uninstalled, I ran the mIRC uninstaller. If you want the scripts, let me know.

The remotes section alone should be sufficient.
When you removed the remotes, did you highlight the script then press the Delete key, or did you use the unload command under the File heading in the menu?

I selected them and hit delete. Should I have hit File and then Unload?

Hi.

where did you have get the mIRC installation ?
What version are you installing or have you installed ?
Do you have run any crack or something ?
What SO are you running ?

If after making "/remote off", the problem persist i think this are very important question´s to know before saying something more...

Good luck

The problem still happened after I unloaded. I am running mIRC v6.32, downloaded off of www.mirc.com. I am not running any cracks or keygens.

WOW. Just WOW. That is so weird! I joined #help, and it joined fine, without a hitch. But, when I tried to connect to my channel, it locked up. I even tried clearing my favorites and that didn't fix it. I also tried joining in invisible mode. Same thing. Again, if it can''t be fixed, tell me a program that supports my Remote scripts. Thanks.

There are no other programs that support mIRC scripts.

Try following these steps:
  • Type /!remote off and press enter
  • Restart mIRC
  • Join the channel that's causing problems

I suspect it will join just fine with the scripts not running.

Ah ha! I fixed it. None of the things you said worked. I uninstalled mIRC, deleted the mIRC Application Data folder, reinstalled and boom. It works fine. Thanks for trying to help.
