Well there's not much help anyone can give since you haven't provided any indication of what happens or what messages you receive when the connection fails or how many times you've tried to connect.

Strange, I connected instantly from the server pool (irc.coldfront.net). Try connecting directly to one of the servers if it still isn't working. Type /server servername where servername is one of:

storm.coldfront.net
ice.coldfront.net
subzero.coldfront.net
frozen.coldfront.net

Have you ever been able to connect to an IRC network in the past? If so, has something recently changed in your computer/network setup or have you changed location (in particular, are you behind a school/university/office network)?

If you are behind a network it's possible certain ports are being blocked. You can try using /server ice.coldfront.net:5556 since that's a non-standard IRC port that the server supports, or if you have SSL support enabled (type //echo -a $sslready to check if you're unsure) then you can try /server irc.coldfront.net:+7778

In that case I would guess your best bet is asking the network administrators to allow IRC connections. Unless somebody else can think of another reason why you're experiencing this problem.

you probably have a firewall or virus scanner preventing mIRC from accessing the internet - if you dont have one, then check your windows firewall
good luck
