/writeini is giving me an 'error accessing file' error when creating a new file.

It does create the file, and it adds the [section] and item=data, but then it gives the error and halts. This only seems to happen if the file doesn't exist.

(newfile.ini doesn't exist yet):
/writeini newfile.ini section item data
* /writeini: error accessing file 'F:\MIRC\newfile.ini'

//write -c blank.ini | writeini blank.ini section item data
- works.

Win98, mIRC v6.3 -- someone with XP SP2 said he didn't get the error.

No error here either with 6.3 on XP SP2. Did you try with 6.21?

Version 6.21 reported no errors at all on INI write failures.

No errors here either (XP SP2). Hopefully someone else with Windows 98 can give some feedback.

Thanks, it appears that Windows98 error handling is different for ini files. This issue has been fixed for the next version.
