in mirc.ini what is this show=magnitude ?

It's an easter-egg of sorts. When mIRC had a checkbox in the about dialog (to control whether or not it showed on START) it used that value in mIRC.ini to store whether it was on or off, the words used changed every few versions. The last version in which it was actually used was 6.03.

I actually hadn't noticed this before :p

I had that once. Mine was some kind of eight character checksum.

Although I've noticed this in mine, which is strange:

cheksums were until 6.17 if i recall corectly
