I've been having very strange problems with IRC in general, not just mIRC. For some strange reason, when I try to connect to servers I know exist and always visit, I get error messages.

Either I get this:
[17:04] * Connecting to putsch.lcirc.net (6667)
-
[17:04] * Unable to connect to server (Connection timed out)

Followed 10 retries later by:
[17:04] * Connect retry #1 208.98.2.162 (6667)
-
[17:04] * Unable to connect to server (Connection refused)

Or I get this:
[17:30] * Connecting to rifk.lcirc.net (6667)
-
[17:30] * Unable to resolve server

I know that these servers are operating right now, I have one of the users on my MSN and he has no connection problems, so the problem is at my end. Also, some networks I have never been to before are giving me "Unable to resolve server" messages. No idea what's going on.

maybe try a ping on your connection to theirs.. could be theirs is limited or yours.

But I think thats more an internet connection issue there. Can you get onto any other servers?

Hi it looks like a router/firewall problem, check your settings and post more about what you are using.
Good luck
