Since you can surf the web without problem, and, it seems, that this has just started since going to your mom's place, from your dad's, it's possible that the ISP that your mom uses has a severe IRC blocking configuration, in that, it doesn't just block the IRC connection, but completely drops the internet.
You should have your mom check with her ISP, as she's their customer.
There may be other possibilities, but that's the first one I can think of.

The thing is, i rang up the ISP, and they dont know whats wrong, they said that on their side, when i attempt to go onto mIRC that for them it still shows that the router is still connected. even tho for me the internet has complety stoped.

Have you updated your network adapter drivers or anything recently?

What other programs have you tried to use to test if your internet connection has actually stopped or not after you've tried connecting with mIRC? Also, have you tried connecting to an IRC network with a different client to see if the same thing happens?

Rock: No i havent updated my drivers lately. Russel: i have tried using a program called Swiftswitch that has an irc client bult-in which is when i initally noticed this problem, then i tried it with mIRC and noticed that it was still happening. And i hv also tried connecting to another network and it disconnected my once again.

Try connecting with an IRC client, then when you think your connection has dropped try opening your web browser to a page that your either have not visited before, or one that you haven't visited in a long time. This will ensure that your webbrowser doesn't pull up the website information from the cache stored on your computer.
If you are able to do that, then your internet connection is not dropping.
If you aren't, then call your ISP immediately and tell them, as this means that there's a problem between your modem, and the ISP's server.
Please note that the above is only based on my knowledge, and others may have differing or additional information.

I don't believe he's saying he can surf the web after the connection drops, but surfing the web does not cause the connection to drop, the connection only drops when he connects to an IRC server.
Smurfsta: Try connecting using another port instead of 6667. Try 6665, 6666, 6668 6669 and even try 7000.

What I'm saying, is try an independent non IRC program that uses the internet to try to determine if it is indeed the connection that's dropping, or just something on IRC that looks like it's dropping. I had a period of about 2 months where it appeared that my internet was dropping, as I was losing my IRC connection, but after checking with my ISP and using what I suggested, I was able to determine that it wasn't my internet dropping, just my IRC.

What brand and model of router and modem are you using? What antivirus and/or anti-spyware program are you using?

actually i did read it all and didnt see anything i havent asked, the funny thing is i dont believe its a router issue or anything, it definetly something on the pc.
I realized just now my virus scan (which my friend is also using same version) was saying my Mirc was a "pup" (potentialy unwanted program) whch it never did before, so i turned it off (to scan for pups) just left it scanning all files, and i am mirc now and still going strong, if this works i will let you know.
Im using McAfee.VirusScan.v9 home
