Forums mIRC Help UNINSTALL

Hi, there. mIRC was installed on my PC by mistake. I've tried EVERYTHING to uninstall it, but I keep getting the message, "you must first exit before uninstalling". And I've never even run the program! It is not in my Task Manager, yet this message persists when I try to remove from the Add/Remove Programs list. Any ideas?

hrm..did you try to restart, and right after the restart trying to uninstall it? or maybe it's in your startup. go to run and type msconfig and look at your start up

there are many trojans that drop an old version of mIRC as part of their payload, sounds like you got one. A normally installed mIRC would be easily uninstalled. Run a good virus scan, like this one which is pretty good at catching a bit more than others. Note the name of whatever is found, since you may need to do some additional editing beyond what they can remove. Use the search engine here, all forums, all posts with the word trojan and you will see a lot of threads on this.
