1. what does mirc return for $os as value on vista
2. does latest MDX controls work fine under vista

I don't have Vista to verify this, but I would imagine it returns Vista. From versions.txt

Regarding MDX, I can't say one way or the other, especially since I was never able to get them to work with any version of mIRC (main reason why I went to DCX)

2. Both MDX and DCX are reported to work fine under Vista. Can't confirm myself though.

does mirc reads from win OS data the name to return or khaled has to manualy add what value to return upon some sort of reckognition ?

The names "Vista", "XP", or "98" etc. have to be added manually. mIRC just reads the Windows version numbers to determine which name to use.

Of course, you can use a COM script to get the real OS information, including SP info.
