I'm not entirely sure this is fully 100% mIRC related but here is the deal.

Since a while i can't dcc anymore on a certain network
( Netgamers ), previously this went well and never had any problems. Thought that my mIRC had mixed up his setting to did a complete new setup with fresh ports open in my router and such.

Now i can still not dcc on that specific network, receiving is working like a charm. So i let the friend who i tried to dcc, join that other network, cause from experience we know his dcc send/receive works and on that network i can sent him files.

Tried setting up mIRC 6.12 with a fresh install, couldn't dcc to my friend. Then tried it with copied settings from my original mIRC and that didn't work as wel.

So i can't sent a file to person A on network A
But i can sent a file to person A on network B
But dcc is person to person so can it be the network or is it something else ? Any help would be great fully appreciated. I hope one of you has come across such a situation and is able to help me out smile

The DCC transfer is client-to-client but the initiation is sent over the server. There are networks which will intentionally block DCC transfer initiations under certain circumstances (or sometimes entirely, although that seems unlikely in your case). It might be as simple as using a registered nick or you may need to use a specific command. You'd be best off asking in that network's help channel for what to do.

Spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and stupid comments are intentional.

Already asked in #feds of the Network, they say nothing should be blocking dcc signals and they say the same as you that it is person to person and the network doesn't have to do anything with it.

So i guess there are not blocking anything atleast thats what i read from their reply. So what could be wrong then?

The only way to know is for both of you to use "/debug @debug" to open a debug window and then for you to try sending a file. You should then be able to see what is happening with the CTCP DCC messages. It may be that the messages are being blocked or that they are being modified in some way by the server/router. Another possibility is that mIRC is unable to use the port range that you've configured and is using any available port.

Thanks for the advice, gonna try it cause i can't seem to work this problem out.

I get the following results

NOT Working DCC

I resumed some pictures which i tried to sent to him before thats why it is a resume command. Thus on Network A its not working, as i can see where missing the ACCEPT command there.

And on Network B it is working cause we are seeing the ACCEPT command there. So why does it work on Network B and not on Network A. We are using the same clients and we are simultaneous online on both Networks A & B.

And i tested another thing, the dcc chat function.

Not working DCC chat

So the question remains, why does it work on one network but not on another. Tested with passive dcc's aswel. And that does seem to solve the connection problems.

But that doesn't make sense:

With passive dcc not enabled
Able to DCC on network B
Not able to DCC on network A

With passive dcc enabled
Able to DCC on network A & B

Network shouldn't make any impact to its behavior even if it are NAT problems or am i wrong ?

The incoming and outgoing ports for the Not Working DCC Send/Chat are different, which indicates that your router is probably changing them. Some routers do this, and they will do it if they notice you are connected to an IRC server on a certain port, such as 6667. That may be why your DCCs work on some servers and not on others. You can find a similar discussion on this here :-)
