Hello,

Is there a way to determine why /splay can't play a file, such as a MP3? I myself have no problems, but an user reported having problems playing a specific MP3, while I have no problem.
Perhaps a method outside mIRC?

Any help will be appreciated.

mIRC uses Windows Media Player's routines to play music files which is why support for files is basically dependant on the user's machine. You might suggest the user re-install or update WMP to see if that fixes the issue.

Also, have the user make sure he doesn't have sounds turned off in mIRC. New in 6.21, if you turn all sounds off in mIRC, /splay and /beep are also disabled.

If it's just a specific MP3, then as starbucks_mafia said, have the person update WMP. Or perhaps the user has a corrupted copy of the file.

Thanks for the replies.

The MP3 in question works on my system and other systems
and he can play WAV files, so I suspect a codec problem.
