Forums mIRC Help How do I get invited to a server?

I have no idea how to be invited. I'm new to excursion again. I hadn't been here for two years. Two years ago I remembered I didn't have to be invited to be able to go into a server or channel. But I can understand why thinking about the legal side of things. However, can someone please tell me how to get invited. I don't know anyone from that channel/server. How do I even start or begin to find my way in there?

You need to ask an op to invite you... try /names #channelnamehere (I guess /lusers works as well), and check for people with an @ next to their names. Use /msg usernamehere messagehere to send them a private message (as stated before, I think /query does the same as /msg) Ask them, be polite, and go straight to the point. Most ops won't answer if you start by asking about the weather... just be clear and concise.

You might also try using the knock command.
/knock <channel> <message>

Again, keep your message brief, put polite.

Note: I don't guarantee that this will work with all IRCd's, but it will work with the UnrealIRCd's
