Hi there,

I have a web site that already has a built-in chat room, but I'd really like a chat room that can support a few live games for the chatters to play, and one of my members suggested I look into mIRC.

Can anybody suggest just where I can look for information on this particular subject ... I have no familiarity with mIRC right now.

I'm not really sure if you are asking how mIRC works, or where to find games for a channel or ... confused

Well... if you click on Intro to mIRC or Intro to IRC to the left, you will see some basics. mIRC is an IRC client used to connect to any of a bazillion networks by way of their servers. Diff networks allow you to open your own channel/room, some allow registration others dont. Each network has an AUP (acceptable use policy) which you will find on their websites, and some general info is given when you connect in the server's MOTD (message of the day)

Quite honestly i dont know what all games would be available, altho i know many ppl use trivia bots in their channels. You mite want to check out gamesnet's web page as they mite be what you have in mind.

Deja vue ... I find this forum, try to sign up, and find out I signed up more than five years ago. Strange.

This is still the subject I am trying to get information on. I am still largely clueless when it comes to this stuff, but maybe I can do a little better, this time around.

I am trying to find a bot (or two bots, more likely) that can lead a game of Hangman and/or a game of trivia. It would keep scores, and eventually announce the winner(s).

How hard would it be to

a) find two such bots

b) from a location that is safe to use them from (instead of something trying to steal my room)

c) that would be well tolerated by somebody somewhere who is allowing an IRC room to exist

d) that aren't too difficult to set up.

Going back a long time, if anybody was familiar with the old online service GEnie, I want to find a way to recreate their chat games ... especially Hangman and Trivia.

Anybody know of a place to find these things, or have any other helpful suggestions?
