While in multiple channels, I could easily have 2 or 3 message comming in every second. So are these messages immediatly written to the log files or appeneded to some sort of queue in memory? From what I understand, hard drive accesses this frequest and consistant can cause considerable wear on the drive. Is this the case? And if so, would it be smart to possilbly implement some sort of memory queue as I mentioned above?

I don't think the tiny amount of access done by mIRC is going to do any significant wear on the HDs. A HD can access data at a rate of many millions of bytes per second, so the few hundred bytes that mIRC might write in a second won't have any effect on the HD.

Actually, it will have an effect, although most people probably wouldn't notice a discrepancy for somewhere around the 20 year mark, that's with mIRC running 24/7 for the whole 20 years. If you really need to see the details as to where I got that number, I'm pretty sure I can still find the data, althougjh not quickly.

Alright, I wasn't sure on the timeframe. It's good to know, as I dont plan on having this old 20GB around in 20 years. Thanks guys.

In 20 years you will need 500GB of HD space just to run windoze. :P
