Forums Connection Issues Invalid Username

I've searched for hours on this matter. Both in these forums as well as numerous search engines and sites. I just can't seem to get to the bottom if it.

Here's the problem I am running into:



I've followed all of the basic suggestions. Checking the fields for capitalized letters, special characters, yadda yadda... I've even gone so far as both completely deleting mIRC and everything related to its installation and started anew and also tried several different clients (4 to be exact).

The problem occurs on all servers and on all clients. So apparently the problem is in my connect. But I'm not sure where to begin with this.

I have no firewall, no proxy, nada. Just not sure what is going on here.

Also perhaps of note here... There seems to be a random string generated where the username should be listed.

I should mention too that I have exhausted my anti-virus protection and spyware detection programs several times to no avail.

Just a wild stab try typing /identd on Harbinger and try restarting mIRC. It was just my two cents worth.

also check if not another mIRC is running which has an identd server running (you should always put it on 'enable only when connecting'!)

note that if the identd can't be found (like because of a firewall or something else) the first portion (before the @) of your email address you filled in is used!

so make sure that part too consists of all lower case characters without any special ones.

I am bumping this topic because the problem still persists. And it seems that in both of the above replies the authors failed to properly read the post before replying.

Again the issue happens on all clients. And I verified as of today that it happens in both Linux and WinXP. I've checked to make sure that Identd settings are correct. I've upgraded all software and firmware.

Something tells me that if I can find the origin of the random string as appearing in the pasted log above, I can help track the issue. There should be no reason why a random string like that should be passed to the server.

So the issue is most definitely connection or software related. The problem is resolved temporarily after the PC is simply restarted. But restarting frequently is a major pain in the neck. And this was not a problem until the reformat occurred.

Any suggestions from anyone? (And please... Read the post thoroughly this time.)

Do you have any scripts that contain ON START or ON CONNECT events? If you do, try removing them, or if you're not sure, try typing and see if that makes a difference.
If you find that the problem disappears with your remotes off, then the problem lies in one or more scripts that you have loaded.
