To see this bug, open a test query window with a multi-line input text box. Type in three or four lines of text but DON'T press enter. Click on another window to move the focus away from the test query. Click on the test query to refocus on it. Rather than put the cursor at the end of the line you were inputting, the cursor jumps up a line or so and you have to scroll back down to the end of your input.

I can't seem to reproduce this here with 6.17. Are you able to reproduce it consistently? If you test this with a newly installed clean copy of mIRC, does it still happen? Does it also happen with 6.16?

I played with this some more after reading your post. No, it's not consistant. It's annoyingly inconsistant in that when it does it, it does it constantly, then when it quits doing it I can't make it start doing it again. Play with it as I will, I can't figure out what makes it start and stop. All my installs are fresh; this is a new machine. I have more than one copy installed and it does the same thing for all of them. One interesting thing I noteced was that while the text scrolls up on refocusing on the query, the flashing cursor stays at the end of the line (the edit box displays about one pixel above and below the displayed lines and I can see it flashing at the very bottom). Also, when refocusing back on another window (I use Status), the typed lines flash back down to where they belong.

I forgot to mention, yes this happens with 6.16. I downloaded 6.17 in hopes of getting rid of the problem.

Which version of Windows are you using? Also, if you enable or disable the "multibyte editbox" setting in the mIRC Options/IRC/Messages dialog, does that make a difference?

I'm using Windows XP. Unchecking the "multibyte editbox" seems to have stopped the problem. I'll have to work with it awhile to see if it comes back. As I mentioned before, sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't, and I've never been able to figure out what causes it.

Thanks for helping me smile
