Forums Scripts & Popups Sockets (Sending information to server)

I'm trying to get my script to bassicly 'ping' my server with a bit of information. I want to hit the script update.php with the attributes t and v, so update.php?t=&v=. I'd be sending it values that the IRC script currently gets.

I've looked a few tutorials, but none seem to work as intended. Can anyone offer some advice, or even code to use?
