hi,
I'm using the latest version of mirc, and I have the 3 dll files listed in the faq in my mirc directory. I don't see the SSL button on the connection>options section. I did a format c: and reinstalled everything, but now I can't get this one little thing working. I'd rather not use a 3rd party app like stunnel. It doesn't make sense to do that for 2 reasons... 1. why install a 3rd party app as opposed to 3 simple to find dll's and 2. i did it once already, why go with a new method?

thanks for any help that can be provided in advance...

Do you have the 3 dlls in the mIRC dir? Have you tried connecting to a server on its SSL port? To connect with SSL, you can use one of these commands:

/server -e irc.server.net sslport
or
/server irc.server.net +sslport
(-e or +sslport means ssl)

If that doesn't work, try copying the 3 dlls into the \windows\system32 dir? Then restart mIRC and try connecting as above again.

everything is as it should be.

mirc was launched AFTER the dll's were placed in the directory.

does anyone know the function calls to load the dll's in mirc manually? confused

thanks for any help

I don't know if it's necessary, but the 3 dlls I have are libssl32.dll, libeay32.dll, ssleay32.dll.

Did you try doing this:

Are you sure you are using mIRC 6.16? Try typing //echo -a v: $version ssl: $sslready If it echos v: 6.16 ssl: $true, then your dlls are installed and ready.

I think the easiest solution, and the one I used to get SSL to work, is to use the OpenSSL installer specified at this help page. Try deleting your current DLLs and any others and using the OpenSSL installer.
