Hi all, since being at uni, I've been unable to connect to the IRC server I usually use (slashnet) because the prot it uses (6667) is blocked by the uni network. I was just wondering if anybody knew of any way to bypass the port blocking or an IRC client that would enable me to connect to the server without having to ask for the port to be unblocked (because I don't see that happening)

We will not assist with attempts to bypass blocks placed on the networks by educational facilities and/or work places.

If you want to use mIRC you can go to the IT department and request permission, however, if they are blocking the ports, then odds are that you won't get permission.

Also please note that attempting to bypass the blocks at an educational facility can get you expelled.
