Forums Connection Issues ping timeout every 10-20 minutes

With mIRC I get ping timeouted every 10-20 minutes (although mirc doesn't detetch that i time out untiul a couple hours later) and it's really bothering me. I have this probelm no matter which server or network i'm on. I've never had this problem before, and I do not get timed out on xchat on my linux machine which uses the same connection via hardware router.

Anybody have any explaination?

I should also add that i do not use any scripts with my mIRC and have tried the newest version 6.16 and now am using 6.12, both with the same issue... this is the first time i'm running mIRC on this computer.

Have you configured your firewall (if any) to open the standard IRC ports?

i'm not running a software firewall, as for my router the correct ports necessary are there. i can stay online up to about 40 minutes, but always timeout, can't figure it out.

Make sure that your router doesn't have a firewall built into it.
Some do, and some don't. If you're not sure, contact your router's manufacturer and find out.
