Hi guys & galls,

WinXP Home SP2
mIRC 6.03
Panzer 2.4
proxy-tunnel socks (localhost:1080)

- I've installed mIRC & Panzer, no problemo;
- I can chat & get files, no problemo;
- I can send files, at least to one user (his upload limit was reached, so no upload, but connection was made), no problemo;
- Some guys on the channel with a fileserver sent me a request to connect to their FS, I accepted and connected without a problem, no problemo...

The problem now is, that when users want to connect to my fileserver, the message "waiting for acknowledgement" stays on until the connection times out. I'm not sure whether the problem lies with Panzer (don't think so), or whether I overlooked something in the setup/config of mIRC (I've got an IQ slightly higher than that of a fish, so...)

Can anybody help me? confused confused confused

mIRC is a chat program, not a file sharing program. That said, a firewall or router is blocking the connection on the port(s) you are trying to use.

mIRC has its own fileserver, so mIRC acknowledges IRC can be used to share files... Not everyone has the intention to share pirated software, so I don't see why this question would be inappropriate in this forum. The fact I use Panzer is because it has much higher functionality than the mIRC fileserver.

Now for the ports: if it is a port problem, then why can I upload & download files? All ports are "open" when I SEND/GET files.

cool Got it! I had this problem, so others will too. So here's the solution :

Download SocksCap, in the socks-settings put your localhost:1080 info (from your tunneling soft), and run mIRC through Sockscap... everything A-OK!

I hope this helps,
cheers

Amazing, that or u can just correctly configure your router/firewall to forward/allow the correct ports to your pc.

Well, this is, in fact, a solution for anyone who hasn't access to the router (university, ...) wink

Bypassing university firewalls can get you expelled, btw.
