I have this idea and I have been scripting a work around for it, but maybe someone can help me, or maybe Khaled can implement this.

How about adding /window wid, where wid = window id. It would be a nice addition, plus fix this really annoying bug with MDX toolbar switchbars where if you have send yourself a file and click on the window for the send, it would make both the DCC send/get windows active on the switchbar. Same happens if you have multiple DCC sends/gets/chats/fserves with the same nickname, it would all be marked as active on the switchbar (mdx switchbar).

It might seem I want this fix just for the MDX switchbar thing, but I also thing this could come into use for getting the true window.

My alias I have right now just returns the window name with the window id (ex $truewin(132) would return #genscripts).

Any thoughts?

I'm not really understanding at all what you're suggesting

what would wid be? what would be the application of it? what problem is it solving? and most importantly what exactly should khaled be implementing? /window wid would do what?

Remember, just because you use mdx doesn't mean khaled knows what you're talking about, or anyone else here

I'd guess he means the window ID, see the help for $window, $chan, $chat, $get, $query, $send and $wid.

Oh, and excellent idea.

Yes, that is exactly what I meant.

You still haven't said exactly what you want "/window wid" to do. Are you suggesting that you can use /window and supply a window ID rather than a window name to perform actions?

My guess is that he wants to be able to do commands like /window -a <wid> to give the window with the specified id focus. That would make sense, considering the bit about fixing the MDX switchbar.

Should also be able to use other switches, like -h, -n, etc.. anything that isn't used solely during the creation of the window. Sounds like it could be useful.

If I knew now what I will know then... maybe things will have been different...
