Hi there,

Ive been using mIRC for some time now, but have always struggled with one thing.

How can i see where i am in the queue? I know that the bots send your queue status out periodically but sometimes i cant find it a windows thats been open for a long while.

Is there some sort of / or ! command to find this out?

Thanks alot.

Chad.

This has nothing to do with mIRC. I don't understand why people persist pushing files via IRC? The protocol isn't built for file transfers in any way.

Thing is, mIRC is the best program you can use for the IRC network. So, if you can't get files from here whats the point. I use mIRC mainly as a chat program where my mates get together before we have a big online game of delta force. Is my question in my previous post to much to ask for? Please confirm and i will go elsewhere.

It would be ashame to come onto a support forum and not get support from its most advanced users. All im asking for is a little help.

Chad.

The point is that IRC is short for Internet Relay Chat, not file sharing. mIRC, and other IRC programs were primarily written to be used for chatting.

The fact that you can do file transfers with these programs is an additonal option that the programmers put in. They didn't have to.

As to your query about the queues, it would depend on what was written into the code that the bot that's sending you the file. there's no way for mIRC to be able to tell how many files are being sent at one time, as they are usually sent via a DCC connection, which, realistically works the same way as a private chat. There's no way for mIRC to determine how many private chat windows someone else has open.
