You can try using:

/run shutdown -r

Depending on your OS, that should work.

Sorry. I wasn't sure which OS's it would work on. I only have XP to test on these days. I could have sworn there was a shutdown command in other Windows versions, but maybe not.

Well for Win9x you could maybe just issue 3 commands in a row, and its bound to shut down with a GPF error. smile

This may work for Win9x:

/run C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE user.exe,exitwindowsexec

And for Win 98/ME:

/run C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32 SHELL32.DLL,SHExitWindowsEx 2

They work but jam up on networked users connected to the machine, brings up the "you still wanna shut down?" question.

I used to have a tiny (16 bytes) com file that would cold boot right from win9x, but i think i have deleted it frown

Didn't know about that, I haven't used 9x in a long time, when I had 9x I never even knew what mIRC was.. frown

I had a file that did this also, but it was on my old machine which my brother decided to wipe clean as soon as I got on the plane.

And yes I have been back, I check on the forum from time to time, but when I come on here posts have been answered so I go back and relax in my sauna.. laugh
