Forums mIRC Help Cannot Recieve XDCC Files

Hi, Im trying to recieve files from my fellow classmates VIA mIRC and when i try to get a file from one of them, it says Could not make connection or something along those likes (Connection Failed?)

Im on a router and was wondering what ports id have to open or what id have to do to recieve XDCC files?

[*]If you're class mates are near you gather round at one pc and look at the files.
[*]If you're in class it is up to your peers to open ports and such, we aren't allowed to say how.
[*]If you're in class, do some work?

On another note, i am currently out of town, hence our need to share our project data over a source. The source we decided to use was mIRC because it was the only source compatable with all users (or so we thought)

Im on a router at my aunts home and i wont be back in town until May 10th. The project is due when i get back that same day. Its not my fault i have to attend a family funeral, id just like to get my work done as well. If you could, please PM me how to do it if you cannot post it here, which is understandable from the link you provided. Thanks.

If they are at school (EDU network), they can't send files to you unless they use a script with what is commonly called a firewall workaround or reverse dcc. Tho, you're probably better off using e-mail or a free online file storage location for stuff like that.

1) People aren't allowed to Private Message "against the rules" help to people either, it doesn't only extend to posting on these forums. Publically stating/asking for help in PM or via email is lame too.

2) mIRC has an inbuilt File Server, and inbuilt DCC support, I don't mind obviously but there's not much reason to specifically use XDCC.

3) If someone can't DCC send then it could be for a whole host of reasons, see this thread. Firewalls/routers -> no/wrong port configuration is the most likely reason.
