Everytime I try and connect to any IRC channel I get this error about the destination being unreachable.

Connecting to efnet.cs.hut.fi (6667)
-
* Unable to connect to server (Network is unreachable)

Could It be that my ISP is blocking a connection to IRC, if not, what settings do I need to change in order to connect. I have read the FAQs but am still unable to connect.

Thanks

It could mean that server/network was down or experiencing problems. As a side note, that particular server may be limited to just people in Finland. Have you tried other Efnet servers? You can find a list at http://www.efnet.org/?module=servers or even other networks to test?

Many schools and businesses do indeed block access to IRC and if so, there really isnt anything you can do. Some networks block access to certain ISPs or a server may limit access. Another connection problem that could occur is if you are blocking use of port 6667 in firewall or router or restricting mIRC/IRC in firewall settings. Check out our Unable to Connect thread
