Forums mIRC Help Whole System freezes - Processor Usage Spikes

Hi all.

Here is a problem I have been having.

My system runs fine, no problems or viruses.

I can use Mirc for a short time then my whole system freezes for about 5 seconds, then frees itself up for about 5 seconds, then freezes itself for 5 seconds and so on and so on.

I have checked my Windows Task Manager and my CPU usage shoots up every time the system freezes, then drops back down again (unfreezes) then shoots back up again. I have to shut my system down to get it back to normal.

I have reinstalled Mirc, I have virus checked everything - anyone got any ideas? This only happens when I use Mirc.

I get similar symptoms, but not quite this servere.

Every 15 or 30 seconds, CPU usage spikes, and the system 'pauses' (mIRC in particular, can't type). After a moment, it goes back to normal.

P4 3.2Ghz HT, 1G Ram, Windows XP SP2.
Connected to 5 networks, 22 channels total.
Only two repeating timers running, neither of which does anything hard (loops through networks getting $network and $away status).
