It would never be an accurate statistic. If people can lie in chatrooms about their personal details then they can lie when filling out mIRC's settings. Some networks have a feature called "Fields" which allow people to include things about themselves in their whois replies, here is a sample of mine:
[09:11:17] Dropbear gender Bloke
[09:11:17] Dropbear location Sydney - New South Wales - Australia
[09:11:17] Dropbear age Very old
It's easy enough to fraudulently use those functions too. If liars worry you then IRC probably isn't the place for you. People often don't lie because they want to be dishonest but because they want to remain anonymous without offending people by not providing an answer to questions. An alternative is to be like me - I am the opposite and simply just don't answer personal questions and rarely talk in private too. One other thing I doubt that it is always bloke that lie about themselves. Surely as many sheilas would do the same thing. :tongue:
