I don't think it needs world wide agreement. I think it merely needs two or three ircds to start developing. Once they do that, I kinda hope we'll see a IE vs. Netscape cold war expansion happen, instead of the rather stagnant situation we have now.

IRCd's lead teh development of IRC proggies. IRC proggies with scripting support can have scripts - decent scripts, written by professional coders (like C++ers who will stoop down to this level) - that handle 90% of the new features, so even if their author's don't integrate the new features there are addons which exist that do.

As for telstra, I'm rarely on there, skulking around all over the place. I was shocked when I created a room all by my self smile
