That's not quite true, it depends what version of WIndows you are running. My network has used Windows since inception and there's been no crashes, instability, needless reboots, etc. In reality both Windows 2000 (Server/Advanced Server) and Unix/Linux perform well as servers. Win 9X is a different story and now irelevant given that it's both no longer made and never advertised as a server product.
