Forums mIRC Help I know server name and Channel # what next

I am a complete newbie to mIRC. I know the server name and channel # I type that information under server I "added" server name and group#

Left "Local info" blank.

Idnt my id, then system it says unix I use windows xp?

Firewall says none and I don't know what to fill in and where I gather that info if needed. Host name, user ID, and password.

I get Local host: and the name and router number IP in green

Says "unable to resolve server" in blue

I am on Time Warner Road Runner I use a linksys router befsr41
XP Pro sp3. I use Zone Alarm and gave all four permisions for internet access and server access.

Am I asking the impossible. How do I get to the server and channel I want to connect to.

At one point I read in help about needing my IP number. How do I find that?

At one point I had port 113 forwarded on the linksys to a high port number on the linksys setup. I have since deleted that.
