Thanks again qwerty, changing to 120dpi and rebooting showed a $dbuw and $dbuh of 2.5 instead of 2.

The part that got me is that changing the font size in the appearance section of the display properties wasn't enough.

I tried that when you said font the first time and it does increas the font size but doesnt affect the dbu results. It was going into advanced and actually changing the dpi and rebooting that finally did it.
