Make sure that your external (WAN) IP and not your internal (LAN) IP is set in mIRC Options -> Connect -> Local Info. Unless you're using a bouncer/proxy you can set "Lookup method" to server, which should automatically fill in the correct details on connect (also enable On connect, always get: [x] IP Address).
