Even so, that is your preference while knowing what that will do if you someday need/want to receive a ctcp request from someone. Suggesting it to someone who may not know what that will do isn't a good idea. That person's likely to come back later and not have a clue why something that uses /ctcp won't work, such as one of the many games or bot scripts out there that use /ctcp. And the person's also unlikely to know that it's a ctcp thing at that point, so will be unlikely to provide the information necessary for anyone here to figure out the problem.
