1.) If someone talks in your active window while the scripts editor is open, the window's button is highlighted. This didn't happen in previous versions. I'd say it's a bug as the window is still "active".
2.) The button's name turns bold in that situation.
3.) If you move the mouse over it, the bold goes away and the button's style changes to inactive.

This behavior is intended. It's meant to show that there was activity while you were in another active window (the script editor in your case). I don't really like it myself, but Khaled said that it's intended and unless a lot of people complain, which hasn't happened, I don't expect it to change.

I see. Well, maybe more people are going to complain now that there's a thread lol.
What about the bold though? And the mouse-over issue I'd certainly call a bug.

Actually it's a result of this bug report.

From versions.txt

77. When in the Script Editor mIRC no longer considers itself the
active application, this allows flash/beep/etc. events to trigger.

Ah ok. I guess the bold is intended too then. However, the button popping out on mouse-over doesn't make any sense to me, especially as it doesn't from opening the scripts editor. It only does while the mouse is on it.

Yeah I just noticed that myself, when the main window is not active, regardless of what is active (script editor, explorer window, start menu, other applications etc.) the switchbar buttons are raised (highlight not reset) on mouseover. That part seems unintended to me.

~ Edit ~

I checked it on 6.21 and 6.3 and it only happened on 6.3

According to Khaled, it is intended.

It does that to show you that when you click on the button, you will activate the window. Previously it didn't pop out, and people would expect clicking on the button to activate the previous active window (as it does if you click an active button in the switchbar usually). Now there's no ambiguity.

That makes sense, it just seems a bit odd.

In any event, it was implemented as a feature suggestion so I don't think it's going to be removed, and I think adding options for things as small as this is just clutter (unless implemented in a firefox-esque fashion with the advanced console).

Nothing was mentioned about an option for it. The highlighting I know was intentional, it was only the switchbar buttons being raised on mouseover when mIRC is not the active application that I was referring to as seeming unintentional and odd.

Yeah I know, I just mentioned that because whenever any possibly undesirable behaviour is discussed it's usually not too long until someone suggests adding an option for it :P

laugh

I don't see what's so hard about just ignoring the colour of clicking on the button to get rid of it.

Clearly this is a regression bug!

If the change "77" from the list caused this, the fix affects normal chat situation a lot, which has nothing to do with scripts editor.

Please fix it and make the switchbar highlighting as it used to be!

I only want switchbar highlights for new query windows, and not for channel activity, and now I can't find how to configure it like that.
