The server give the first one to join a room the operator status, if that person then leav the server then he cant cound on that the room are empty when he returns.. and the server wont give you the @ sign back.. smirk

if ($me != tired) { return } | else { echo -a Get a pot of coffee now $+($me,.) }

In addition to sparta's response, it may be that someone has registered the room that you were once in an therefore cannot gain ops until you are added to an access list for that room.

And in addition to the other two responses (!) if you were made an OP (@) by another OP then the chances are it was only temporary.

Most networks have some kind of channel service(s) whereby you can gain OPs in a channel automatically, or via a /msg command. If a higher-ranking OP has not added you to the list of people that can do that, then you will remain deopped when you return frown (Until/Unless someone OPs you again wink)

Have fun IRCing.

Regards,

Mentality/Chris

In addition to the other 3 ( grin , i couldnt resist) replies, IF you have been added to the ops list for that channel, you may need to have identified to your nick before joining the channel to get the @

In other words, it could be a lot of things. Best thing to do is ask one of the ops in that channel whats up

I think it is /msg NickOP@austnet.org identify <password here>

You should see the Austnet help channel for further detail as Austnet run their own unique services.

Any window, but status would be safer incase you acidentally message a channel with your password.

I agree with Collective, Status Window should be used for all authentication/identification commands, including the change of password.
