i would like to know if there is a way to ban a person by their ip because i have this real ass in my room who everytime i ban him just uses a different nick and rejoins.he is severly harrasing one of my regular female guests.i have done a whois and gotten that info but when he changed his nick he was able to rejoin...please help! thanks.

just ban whatever comes after the @ in the whois, EG:

name!ident@address.of.the.person.com

then type /mode #channelname +b *!*@address.of.the.person.com

Thats about all you can really do. IP address bans won't work in channels unless his IP address does not reverse DNS and the network you are does not have address cloaking.

Try contacting an IRCop about it, they have more abilities to remove such people from the network entirely.

add this to ure remotes
on @*:join:#: {
if ($address($nick,2) == <all of the stuff after the @ on his address>) {
mode $chan +b $address($nick,2)
kick $chan $nick Bye!
}
}
that will kick-ban him everytime he join s a channel youre a op in you can change the Bye! to anything you like

Just a note on IP bans, that isnt totaly true, with unrealircd you can ban an ip and even if they are cloaked they cant get in

well bugger me, i never knew that. thanks for that Armada, i doubt i'd of ever found that out by myself. I basically live on an unreal server so thats nice to know i can do that.
