ok first of all yes i tried searching. ok here we go, im using mirc and invision on a college network. the problem is i can only connect to certain servers (rizon works). the others say connection timed out. i dont know anything about ports but i noticed while connecting to rizon it has (6661) and the others usually have (6667). is there a way to force it to use 6661 for all servers? also i went into options and chose a US efnet server and changed the "ports" option. i simpley changed the first part of the range, it said 6666-6669,7000 and i changed it to 6661-6669,7000. it then connected but it said (6668) while connecting. i dont have any idea what these changes did or why they worked. any info would be gerat. i dont want to sit there and change the port options for every single server because i want to be able to click on links from sites such as packetnews.com and have it connect right away. any suggestions?

Some schools block 6667 the main irc port, most networks allow 6660-6669 so just
/server irc.mirc.com:6661 and try

I'm not sure where it is in the options but there is a section that allows you to set a default port. in mirc as a fresh installation it is usually set to 6667. just change it to what you prefer
