A friend of mine (Win2K):

When I try to connect to a server, it maxes out cpu time (And doesn't work).
I believe it does so if your full name contains a $chr(160) non-breaking space.

look at the other reports saying something about $chr(160) . it's a bug with SJIS/JIS conversion, you need to disable that option in mIRC options.
