I'd think it would be a great idea if you could right click on URL's to say mp3s or mpegs, etc, and then have the option to Save As..

As it is now, you double click the file, and it does it's default action, such as opening with winamp or media player or whatever. This can be a pain, especially with large movie files that you would like to save to your drive and watch at a later date.

I hope to see this in the next version of mIRC, which I must say has never been surpassed as the best IRC client out there, and hopefully, with additions like this, never will be.

here you have a few smile
You can add your own hotlinks and they will be opened with your default aplication.
So when someone types video: //thisvideo.avi you can double click on it and it will be opened.

Thank you for your suggestion. But, what I'm trying to say is, I don't want files to be opened with the default action.

Sometimes it's a link to an mpeg file, and instead of opening it with media player and streaming it, I want to be able to save the file directly to my hard drive in a folder of my choice. So I would right click the URL, click "save as..." and select the folder to download to.

Same with mp3s, when someone posts a link like this:

http://blah.com/song.mp3

If you double clicked that in mIRC now, it will automatically open up the file with media player. But in your web browser, you can right click the link, and select "Save As.." This feature needs to be added to mIRC chat windows.

That's a great idea.

Here's a temporary workaround:

Copy the URL and paste it into a downloading program, such as getright.

That's how I download things that would normally not be downloadable using a right click. (such as a .swf file imbedded into a page, I just open the source, find where the .swf file is, and download it using my getright)
