I would like to thank those who answered me but there was a misunderstanding. I am not trying to connect from my mobile phone but I am using my notebook and just using the mobile to get the GPRS connection. Therefore I'd like to know if I can connect to mirc from my notebook.

Hi again.

You don't need to start a new thread carrying on from a topic that you've already started. You can just simply reply in the last thread you started and, for most people, the new thread will be easily viewable, even if it's old.

Nevertheless, I'm not sure what you mean by "Notebook" (A "notebook" to me is a book full of paper for writing in, and mIRC is not compatible with this!) However, I'll assume it's one of those nifty gadget things. mIRC runs on Windows 95, 98, 2K, XP, ME and some people use it successfully with WINE. Does this nifty "notebook" gadget have that OS installed? If so, and you have an Internet connection, then you can probably connect to mIRC - but due to the technical set up of said gadgets perhaps it's not made possible. What error message are you receiving? Run a search on the error message (or parts of it) and see if any threads come up concerning the issue.

It's easier to support you with issues if you have problems running mIRC on a PC/Laptops mIRC was meant for!

For the benefit of others, this person is referring to this thread.

Regards,

Mentality/Chris

AFAIK, 'notebook' is another name for a laptop.

Hi again,
what I meant for notebook was LAPTOP. So my question is If i can connect to mirc from my laptop using the GPRS connection of my mobile phone. I am asking this because as I try to connect I receive error messages such as "unauthorized connection" or "too many host connections(global)", while I can easily connect using my dial up line.

Thanks anyway for your support.

FYI: You don't connect to mIRC, you use mIRC to connect to an IRC server.

"Unauthorized connection" means that that server does not allow connections from your IP/host/country (common on IRCnet where they like you to use a local server).

I haven't seen the "too many host connections(global)," but "too many user connections (global)" means that too many people from your host/IP are connected to that network. This probably means that other people are also using their GPRS connection to connect and that your ISP does not give each user a unique IP.

You should be able to get on IRC, you're just not having much luck with the servers/networks you're trying.

Futhr,

Regardless of what type of PC, laptop, or mobile hardware device you use, if it can establish a direct connection to the internet, and its a windows based operating system, then you can run mIRC on it.
