Hi!

I recommend you to visit http://irc.netsplit.de/
It contains everything you're looking for.

Well it depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for rpg servers, anime servers, culture servers etc. Each genre has it's own

As he said that he wanted to know the "most used servers" and the "most famous channel" we can safely assume he meant the most popular networks/channels on all of IRC.

The resources fxmakers and Para gave him are two well-known, useful resources which provide statistics of the top networks and channels.

True if you grouped together all Anime networks and then classed them in order of popularity you would have different statistics, as Quakenet, Undernet, EFnet, DALnet, IRCnet (etc) are not Anime networks primarily, so they would not be included. However, I don't think he was asking for that smile

Hi, wondering if you can help me. Does the channel #Karaoke still exist? If so under what server/Network is it located? Also, when I type \Join #channel name there is no activity/communication going on....what am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Hi there smile

IRC is made up of many servers, networks and channels (and people with funny nicknames), and so it's hard to pin-point one particular #Karaoke channel. If I said "#Karaoke is on Network1" and then you went to Network1's #Karaoke channel, you may well find a bunch of people there - but they might not be who you are looking for. The channel #Karaoke can also exist on ANY other network but each one will have different people in, different rules, different popularity etc..

So, as you can imagine, given the number of channels called #Karaoke, and given that nobody is psychic it's near impossible for anyone to tell you exactly which channel you're looking for!

However, there are some resources you can use to find the best match and indeed, find the exact channel you're looking for. As fxmaker and Para pointed out, netsplit.de and SearchIRC are two good and highly recommended websites for looking for channels. You could also put the channel name and network into Google.

Remember that all commands begin with a /. So when you want to join a channel you use /join #channel-name - just thought I'd let you know incase what you typed is no a typo smile

Best of luck!

I am looking for a server for games. I know it would be impossible to find one for a specific game, but are there any for one particular genre?

You should use resources like that (the ones linked to) to find channels - we can't pinpoint channels to you as described in my last post. So, for example, you might search for 'RPG' or 'Action' etc..
