Hi!

D:lines are a sort of ban to reject connections from a specific origin.

Maybe EFnet received some attacks from people using the same internet provider as yours and the IRC oper/admin banned them using a too general/large IP range or hostmask.

Anyway I suggest you to visit the EFnet web page or the EFnet forum and try to contact an EFnet IRC admin.

D:lines are usually purged every 24h on big networks.
Moreover they only applies to a local server, so try to connect to another EFnet server: list of linked servers

(BTW: it's not a mIRC-related problem)

Good luck

I also can't connect to effnet this past week. The change was abrupt. I have networked computers, and what is strange is i CAN connect on my older computer, no problem...but not on this one. I get error message "Invalid Username'...or 'banned, cached'. I did change the 4 digit port # by one digit and was tmprarily on effnet...but stupidly backed out and cannot get back in now. Is this a problem with my computer?

The 'Bad Username' error message is not the same as a D-line. The error message is received by many people all the time, no worries smile - Might want to look at this thread.

However, from this page:

"INVALID USERNAME
Closing Link: 0.0.0.0 (Invalid username [ ]) Disconnected

This means the IRC server did not accept the username (User ID) settings in the Ident service (Identd) in mIRC under File/Options/Connect/Identd/. In the error message it shows the part it did not like between the [ ] brackets. Most probably you use characters in your File/Options/Connect/Identd/User ID settings that the server doesn't like. Make sure you remove all strange characters from your User ID. Remove dots, spaces, and all other non-alphabetical characters."

Hope this helps smile

Mentality/Chris
